Today reminds me of the first Valentines day we spent together. You gave me this cutest little teddy bear that sat on a heart shaped pillow! I wish I had thought of taking it with me to Iceland!

The weekend!

The weekend was really nice and relaxing. Went to my parents´ place over the weekend and took my lovely nephew and nieces with me and well what can I say, I ate a lot of good food and cakes and watched the Icelandic X-factor! Gosh it was so weird!  I am (or I was) a "fan" of the English x-factor and I have to say that I prefer the English one! But, maybe I just have to get used to the Icelandic set up and the icelandic judges and listening to people singing songs in English with Icelandic accent!!!!

Brrrrrrr, it´s cold!

 -5 degrees Celsius at 6 am this morning! brrrrrrrr! I know, it is not really that cold but compared to the mild winter in England, it is very cold and I haven´t adjusted just quite yet!

Yesterday I finally went swimming. Well, when I say swimming I actually mean Jacuzzing (ok, I know it is not an actual word but I have always been good at making new words, both English and Icelandic!) and yes, it was lovely. My plan is actually when my hip gets better (yes, still not 100% okay after my fall almost couple of weeks ago!) to go swimming before I go to work, and I actually mean SWIMMING!)

Sunrise is today at 9,50 and sunset is at 17,34 so basically since I last wrote this down, a week ago, the day and daylight has increased by 40 minuets! This reminds me of a client of mine at DTW who asked me: at which point or what date does it stop being dark in Greenland? I patiently explained to him that it was a gradual thing (but I thought it was such a stupid question that I had trouble composing myself!) and did not really happen overnight! Crickey, some people! ha ha

a day off!

Brilliant to have the day off!  Slept until 9,30 and been pottering about doing not too much! lovely!

 Today I am going to register the Cocktailsauce in my name and catch up with some friends! But apart from that, I have not got much planned! Need to start working though on the marketing project though - will do so tonight!

 anyways - don´t work to hard!

 

Weekend

Woke up this morning to find my car called "kokkteilsosan" (the coctail sause - u know, a mixture of ketch-up and mayo!) covered in snow! It was not as hard as I thought it would be waking up at 7 on Saturday morning - the traffic was heaven! Took me only 10-15 min to drive to work (on a busy morning it can take 20-25 min!)

Been really busy here at the hotel - which is great - love it when it is busy although it is nice to get a break to blog every now and then (like now!)

Next weekend I am off 3 days and I will then go to my parent´s place on the south coast - cannot wait!

Well, I better start doing some work here!

Today to Friday: a lot of rain but then we might see some snow at the weekend and temperature below zero again!

 

My first week in Iceland

What can I say! After the initial shock of actually not being here for a visit only this has kind of grown on me I must say! Although I hate the high prices of everything and miss Bob like a crazy it feels really good being home! 

My first proper day at the Hotel was on Friday and it went well. When they realised how bl**dy clever I am they just left me and let me get on with the job! There were a few "hick ups" of course but nothing that I couldn't handle! - And then I had sat and sun to recover and relax and I relaxed so much today that I managed to forget to lift my feet up and fell over and hurt my hip quite badly (the artificial one!) or rather the unused muscles surrounding the joint - so I can hardly walk and have difficulty sitting down and getting up! So yes - too bad! I hope I will manage to go to work tomorrow! Not good to start taking a day off sick!

Am thinking of putting a few new pix from my time in London - u english people - go to "myndaalbum" and on the left side of the page (under "EFNI") there you should find it! And "gestabók" means guestbook so sign it!

Iceland - Day 1

Weather: quite warm and very wet!

The journey home went well - a bit of crying and a bit of delay at LHR but other than that - fine. The airport was unusually quiet - which was great!

It is so weird being here and not for a visit only! It will take me a few days to get used to the idea. Will start working tomorrow - well, actually I think it will be a fairly short day but I start working and learning the ropes on Friday (all day!) and then I am off on Saturday and Sunday and will start the shifts on Monday. The plan is that I work Monday and Tuesday and then I am off Wednesday and Thursday and then I work Fri, Sat and Sun and the following week I work Wednesday and Thursday only!

Already I got two dinner invitations - one with Kris and Asa on Friday night and then traditional Icelandic meal ("kjot i karry" = "lamb curry") on Sunday night at Harpa's!

Anyway, better start unpacking and s**t! take care my huns buns x
