Paint the town red
Finally off on a 3 day weekend and boy have I got plans.
First of all though, Iris is one year older than she was before TODAY, 9 march! TIL HAMINGJU MEÐ AFMÆLIÐ DÚLLAN MÍN XXX
Tonight I am going to a party at my sister´s place. This is a kind of a fare well party as one of her best friend is moving abroad.
Tomorrow night me and Linda are going to paint the town red! (I love the internet! I was wondering where this phrase came from and decided just now to see if I looked it up on google! And this is what I found on: http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/paint-the-town-red.html
Paint the town red. Meaning: Engage in a riotous spree. Origin: The allusion is to the kind of unruly behaviour that results in much blood being spilt. There are several suggestions as to the origin of the phrase. The one most often repeated, especially within the walls of the Melton Mowbray Tourist Office, is a tale dating from 1837. It is said that year is when the Marquis of Waterford and a group of friends ran riot in the Leicestershire town of Melton Mowbray, painting the town's toll-bar and several buildings red.
There you have it!)
anyway - where was I...yes the weekend... then Sunday will be spent with massive hangovers and visiting Iris to celebrate her Birthday!
take car folks and have a great weekend x

Ouch!
Spent yesterday in bed with massive hangovers. Reason being that my sister Tobba was in town (she lives in Akureyri) and we decided to make a night out of it and spent the night at the Hotel drinking vodka and then we went out for dinner at Hereford Steakhouse! Can recommend it - the food was great.
Anyways- back at work now for 2 days although I actually might work on Friday as well and then another drinking session with Linda - although right now still the though of alcohol makes my stomac turn...
laters x

Snow
It snowed here a little bit this morning and it was beautiful - all melted away now though!
Day keeps getting longer - sunrise at 08:26 and sunset at 18:53 - so we have daylight until almost 19:30 now - lovely!
Good news from Bob and the other madmans in Millwall Rugby team! They won a very important game game yesterday and will now get promoted to the league above! Con grats boys and girls (yes, they have a femail rugby team called Venus - Bob kept suggesting that I join them and I kept visulizing my beautiful body! bruised and in a mess and kept saying "I don´t think so love")
anyways - got tomorrow and Tuesday off - got plans to see my sisters at Mokka for breakfast! The best latte and the best toasts (with of course cheese and marmalade) in Reykjavik by far!
laters!

Today´s Work Out - DONE!
The lift decided just now not to work and guess where they put the system where you reboot it? Yeaps, on the top floor (ridicilous! really!) - so I ran up the 6 flight of stairs and opened the box only to find out that I did not know what to do and that the phone did not have any connection! So, I ran down to make a phone call and then ran (okay, so I did not run the last couple of flights, was too exhausted by then!) up again and this time took my mobile phone with me! This time I managed to fix it but I think that Today´s work out is done and I am sure that my thighs will be aching tomorrow! ouch

Vodka
I got 10 small bottles (like the one you buy at the airport) of Vodka that a pleased customer gave me and the nightguard as a good bye gift! Drink anyone? Am going to save my share until I get the next weekend off (which is in two weeks by the way!) when I am planning on going clubbing (dance, anyone?) and I am looking forward to it actually because I get questions here all the time, where shall I go, what places are hot etc etc - and I have NO IDEA as I have spent the two weekends out of 5 at my parent´s place (no clubs there I promise you!, although I did go to a Thorrablot but I would not count that as clubbing and partying, although it was good fun!), 2 weekends working and the first weekend I was in too much of a shock still of my sudden move that I was not able and really did not feel like going out!)
Anyway, it was time for a new paragraph!
And another one!
anyway - weekend´s been mad! two days to go and then I am off for two days! fun fun fun!
skál!

Dry hands!
Yeaps! This is the one thing I do not like about Iceland (well, I am sure there are LOADS of things that I do not like in particular, but more of them later!) - my skin gets extremely dry in cold weather and my hands in particular! feel like dipping them into a jar of vaseline! Talking about the weather - it is absolutley lovely weather in Reykjavik today, although it is a bit chilly, so I am contemplating going swimming, even though I got a bit of a cold! It will probably cure my cold if anything!
Anyway, most of you are probably looking forward for a relaxing weekend ahead (I have to work!!) Hope you have a great one!

Ash Wednesday
Today is Ash Wednesday! I´ve had 5-6 lot of children wearing various customs coming into the lobby singing for me and as a reward they get to pick from a bowl of sweets. There are some americans staying here and they sang for me as well!! "Yesterday, all my trouble seemed so far away!" ! I will be singing this song until the next lot comes... Hope they come soon!!! Oops, I did it again!
otherwise it is good to back to work - thought I was getting the flu yesterday - did feel a bit under the weather (or under the water Kris said once! LOL)
busy bee me!

Too many days off!
I can swear that you can have too many days off! I only had to work one day since last Tuesday, (Friday) because I swop days with my colleague so I could go to Thorrablot. That means that I am working next two weekends and quite a lot but I am just looking forward to getting back to work and into a routine and keep myself busy all day long - it makes the time go a lot quicker. Only 4 weeks and a bit until I go to London......
My plan was to wake up very early, even on my days off but my friend told me about this site where you can play pictonary online and I gave it a go and now I am hooked and instead of going early to bed last night, I stayed up to late playing! So I slept in this morning! YAAAWN!
The Thorrablot was great! Good food (not minging like Kelly put's it! -ha!), entertainment was fine and so was the band, although the older generation complained about the tempo being too fast! Ha ha, that's what happens when you get older I guess, you need to start dancing on a lot slower tempo! my my! Anyway - I saw nothing wrong with it and danced like the devil and met up with some old mates and friends that I haven't seen or heard or even thought about in ages! Glad I went!
anyways - things to do, people to see and hotel to run! ha ha

Þorrablót
The annual Thorrablot is now next weekend in the area where my parents live and I am going to go - for the first time in probably 6-7 years. Thorrablot is an event when Icelanders meet, dance, drink, sing (most often songs that makes you blush!) and eat food as it was cooked traditionally (when Iceland was under Danish rule, they banned us to use salt (because if Icelanders would have been able to salt and store the fish, they could have exported it and made money and thus become independent!) so instead of salting food, as of way of preserving it, we smoked it, dried it and pickled it (in sour stuff - somewhere described "whey-pickled!)
I personally do not eat or like this stuff like whey-pickled sheep balls or singed sheep head or sheep head paté but there are loads of other goodies on the buffet like gravlax, smoked lamb eaten with flat bread, sweet white sauce and boiled potatoes! Bob hates it though, said it felt like eating tires and did not understand why on earth we would put sugar in the sauce well I can explain that, sugar was something Icelanders did not have much of in the old age and thus, when they had sugar, they put it in the sauce but let me ask you right back why on earth would you put sugar on popcorn and why on earth do you deep-fry mars bars??? Now thats disgusting!!!Anyway where was I? Yes, bad food! My favorite of it all is rotten shark most people do not agree with me and think it is disgusting but one can say it takes a while to get used to it and I cannot eat much of it! But it makes my mouth water just thinking about it!I am suppose to be working this weekend but the staff at my current work place are fantastically flexible so instead I work next weekend! Anyway I hope this here above did not make you lose your appetite.Bon appetité
