Guess who´s coming!

Yeaps

today is the big day! Bob is moving to Iceland. My nephew will pick him up from the airport and take him to our new flat in Breiđholt, and then the plan is that he will have dinner at Svava´s and tomorrow he will fly over to myself - been what....8 weeks since we last met and I cannot wait.

However, it´s going to be a bit busy here the next few days so I cannot see myself taking a lot of time off to spend with him - I guess he just has to help out :)

Alive and Well

hello - yes, I´m still here

dee - this was one busy and hectic week, opening up the hotel and try to get everything sorted in time and it did not help that I had trouble sleeping because of the light nights and because of stress frankly....kept thinking about all the things I had yet to do and just could not shut off and relax.

But last couple of nights I´ve had my 6-8 hour sleep and am feeling a lot better and am learning how to shut off!

I started off with 4 staff (in addition to me an Rúnar, the chef) - but one guy quit after 3 days - got a culture shock when he arrived and realised that this was just not for him - poor thing had to hitch a lift back to Reykjavik, as he did not have any money - and is flying back to UK today. So, at the moment I need 1 or 2 more staff! But am sure this will work fine just fine.

Me and Rúnar tagged the car to Hofn yesterday to have someone look at it - have not heard back - am pretty sure I need to buy a new one - hopefully I will have a car by the end of next weekend - it is a really uncomfortable feeling not having a car in case I need something urgently, like picking up rotten shark from the airport!!

Anywys - will keep you posted

My car a died

Darn! Really cannot be without a car here!

probably need to buy a new one!

hmmmm

annoying

otherwise - opened the hotel today - still 1001 things to do - but am half way there!

My New Home......

I´m here!

The journey went well - my "kokkteilsósan" (i.e. the car!) got me here and I love her for it! The only problem was that the car does not have a radio, so I took my cassette player and spent massive amount of money on batteries and thus was able to listen to some music on the way - although whenever there was a little bit of "unevenss" on the road - and well yes...the roads in Iceland are in general UNEVEN! - the CD player stopped...and I am not sure, have to check it out, I think I might have ruined my CD collection!!! Anyway - after Kirkjubćjarklaustur, I gave up (the roads get more uneven the further away you are from Reykjavík!) and surprice!, I could find any station on the radio so the last few hours driving were a bit LONG as I had nothing to listen to but my crappy singing (nah, I am quite good really!) but got here in the end!

Right, were was I. Yes, the scenery is beautiful and I got fantastic weather on the way and right now the weather is fantastic! Still - loads and loads and loads of things to do and organise and CLEAN and well, everything! Anyways....I am very excited about this all...like being the queen of my little kingdom! SO ME! ha ha

Updates

Much happening these days - sort of! Collected our Bob´s stuff on Friday with help from good friends  (THANKS AGAIN ANDREA and co) - mostly in 1 piece (i.e. the stuff!),:Bob´s guitar got broken as well as the glass plate in our sofa table. So the stuff is now in our new apartment but there is still a few furnitures missing. A bed which we will buy next month, but my lifesaver, Andrea, lend us a mattress so that´s fine (not like we haven´t slept on a mattress before!) - and we need to buy a few shelves for our many books, cds and dvds and videos.... and a few bibs and bobs....but we will manage...

Went clubbing with Harpa and Ása on Sat night  (see a pix on Harpa´s blog (the penquin!)- since this was my last weekend in Reykjavik and it was good fun - and then I spent Sunday feeling tired, hungover and instead of going to our flat and unpack and clean, I spent the day watching Desperate Housewifes...ahhh and then my brother BBQ-ed in the evening...ohh...I´m so spoiled.

Next couple of days I need to pack, and then on Thrursday I will say  my good-bye to Reykjavik for a few months and will be enjoying the lovely air up in the countryside....

....I cannot beleive that the season is starting - time has played a trick on my it feels...oh boy...

Spain and Ítalía

Well, now Bob and the rugby team is in Spain! I'm sure they will have great fun as usual although possibly not remembering anything on their return! Well, I only hope Bob comes back home in 1 piece.

Went to pay for the moving to Iceland - actually was quite a bit more than I had anticipated- so basically I´m almost broke again! puff....

Tomorrow is a week until I go to Vatnajokull - amazing, great, mad and sometimes a bit scary :)

And last night I went to Italia Restaurant with Andrea - had really nice pizza, wine and good time. THanks for joining me and help me using my gift card! :)

Also went to day to Kringlan searching for a post office (there used to be one there a few years ago at least) . Basically, there seem to be almost no post offices left in Reykjavík! Okay, I realise that people do not send letters as much as they did before - they just e-mail or like in my instance, basically BLOG about things - but HELLO...we still need to mail stuff!! I just find it very annoying the lack of post offices and post boxes in the whole of Reykjavik.... It bugged me BEFORE I moved to London and it still annoys me....

well...I better go and stir the pots...we are making Hrísgrjónagrautur (rice pudding!)...hmmm lovely...especially with Slátur...Haggis!!! take care bunnies....

Check this out:

Millwall Rugby club won the Exess Cup Final. Here they are celebrating their mighty won - con grats by the way :) http://youtube.com/watch?v=bu4vY1GpKow

And here is another bit on youtube: Unnar and the other guys in Dejavu  group on one of their jeep tours... some bits look scary and crazy really - when I went snowmobiling on Langjokull Glacier a couple of years ago I had nightmares about falling down a pit in the glacier - or whatever you call them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBqqtqor_cQ

Not much to report though - have only 3 shifts left to work at Baron - then I have a couple of weeks off but it will be two busy weeks, am moving into our Bob´s flat, have to unpack and go through our stuff and on top of that continue preparing for opening the hotel... but I plan to relax a bit and to go swimming a lot...get rid of those knots...

be good now x

Great Week

Hi and ho! Thanks for all the birthday wishes

Have had a great week and I had a great birthday. First of all, the weather was beautiful all day long, although perhaps a bit chilly!

Me, Shane and Asa went to Grái Kötturinn for breakfast - followed by a relaxing trip to the swimming pool, followed by shopping and ice cream in Kringlan and Perlan and then we went to Asa´s place for cocktails. From there we went to Kaffi Oliver where I had ordered a table and there we had a lovely meal and white wine, followed by a couple of shots, more wine and 1x corny dancing from yours truly!

Then apparently we went to Ölstofan where we had some more cocktails. Then we headed off to Bar 11 which was empty and then we went to Kaffibarinn. There I continued making a complete fool of myself, with help of good friends and was showing off my "standing on hands" ability!! Well, that´s where my talents stops and I found out, flat on my face, that after 6 cocktails, couple of shots and 1 bottle of white wine I cannot walk on my hands!

Well, shorty after "falling on my face" incident I went home! Woke up before 10 the day after and drove to my parent´s place where I had ordered bbq lamb...and what Sigga asks for, Sigga gets! It was of course lovely! Takk Mamma mín og Pabbi fyrir góđar móttökur :)

We made a stop at Helena and Asi´s place in Selfoss which was great as I have not seen them in ages! Then me and Shane did some sight seeing and it was great to take him to the south coast as he had never been there before and we had beautiful weather again. But I can truly tell you that there was one tired 32 year old that went to sleep in the evening! oh boy!

Anyway, back in Reykjavik now - have to shape up and do some work although I really feel like taking a nap for an hour or two....

change of plans and weather

woke up this morning and the weather was beautiful - sunny and quite warm and just perfect for jacuzzing... and 40 minutes later it was literally snowing so jacuzzing was ouit of the picture and I took a shower at home instead...and today we just have had all type of weather...It is true what they say about weather in Iceland - u don´t like it...just wait 5 minutes (well in my case it was 40!)...

was supposed to be working today and yesterday... but small change of plans so I got those days off but instead I have to work next weekend - which is fine. I think that after my birthday bash I will not have any money to spend...so working will suit me fine!

Went out with drinks with Shane and Asa after work on Sunday - as usual -  we got hammered and Monday was spent on feeling tired and hungover - and I think I have written here before that I cannot tolerate Beer - but still - I keep on drinking way to much of it and my face was so blotchy on Monday...horrible... no more beer for me thank you very much...please remind me the next time I order a pint!

and tomorrow is my birthday - only 23! Oh, sorry, freudian fingerslips....32! weird - don´t feel like it!

dinner and drinks tomorrow - then thursday will be spent in bed and even though I am off on Friday I plan doing some work and then I am invited for dinner at Mćja´s! And then I received free dinner at Italia restaurant as well as at Vín and Skel so there will be a lot of dining out next few weeks...wicked!

Well got to go and talk to my baby...

Con grats Millwall Rugby CLub and Happy Birthday Jóna Díva #1

And this morning he told me that he got 8 stiches!

Anyway - con grats all at Millwall Rugby Club. Oh boy, I bet there was some heavy (heavier than usual!) drinking last night as well as stripping and dancing on tables (yes, not only icelanders dance on tables!)

And my good friend Jóna Gudny is 32 years old today... she is Diva numero uno .... Til hamingju međ afmćliđ Jóna mín
