Söngdívur

Went on a concert last night with 4 song divas (Söngdívur) at Restaurant/Cafe Domo and it was fantastic. Really enjoyed myself!

Been doing all sorts of stuff today. Went to Mokka with mum, worked a lot, went swimming and am blogging from my sister´s place right now! And then I am working the next 5 days to earn myself 5 days off (including my birthday!) so I do not expect to have time to blog much next days!

And SHane is coming on saturday! Hurrah!

Well deserved day off!

It's been a hectic week. Wednesday at work was very busy but yesterday (Thursday) was busy but lovely - happy customers gave me a couple of bottles of red wine and I managed to get out of the hotel 15 min past 8! Went straight to Asa's place to drink that lovely wine I was given and we listen to some music that we used to listen to in UK when we lived and worked together and danced to Dolly Parton's "working 9-5... Great fun!

I ended up staying at her place as taxi would have costed me half my salary! And today I went jacuzzing, and then to a Cafe Paris for Shrimp Crepé and basically have been relaxing and just doing everything else but checking my e-mails... That can wait until tomorrow! Then I plan to take Sunday off as well....

Well....enough now!

Back Home

Well folks! Am back home... Had a fantastic week - did some packing - not as much cleaning as planned - met loads of people, did a bit of shopping (hey! I am a woman after all!), attended the beautiful wedding of Kerry and Terry (I almost shed a tear) and best of all - spent some quality time with my beloved!

As usual, it went really quickly and I could have used a couple of more days of course (no dirty thoughts please! oh well go on then!) - but on the other hand I did not get much work done with regards to the Hotel Manager job (still have some hiring and planning to do!) as my computer (laptob) did not work (could not use the internet! there is really no use of a computer if you cannot use the internet...) and Bob´s computer (which we will throw away, thank GOD!) basically made me MAD (it is so slow and horrible and chrashed on me a couple of times so I gave up trying to use it!)....where was I...very long sentence...yeah..well... yes.... so being back in Iceland is not too bad...

Had planned to do loads of work today..but had to go to the  Hotel and do some reception work...but am off tomorrow and I hope I will get a lot done tomorrow...so I can take next weekend lightly....

Next up: Shane´s coming soon and it is staying for a week (we planned it so he is staying the week I will celebrate my birthday...just in case we had trouble finding an excuse to get hammered...hmm...it has not been a problem in the past...but u never know!)

Cannot wait!

Not much to report - we made it to Hofn and I had a look at the place (well, what I could see through the fog!) but it is very scenic and pretty there - not unsimilar to what I am used to at my parents place so I am sure I will fell just like home!  I am looking forward to start working there - but there are awful many things to organise and think about first! Still, exciting!

am going to go and make myself a waffle now xxx

 

Flight Delay

Woke up at the ungodly hour 6 am this morning..was at the airport at 7 for 7,30 flight but soon we found out that the weather conditions at Hofn are not right for landing! So the news is now that we can call and check if there will be a flight at 12 noon!

So, better use my time wisely and blog!!!

Nah, got loads and loads and lots of things to do so I keep it a short one this time.

Anyway - I hope they will fly there (and back! really do not want to be stuck there for the night!!) as I do not know when I will have time again to see the Hotel before I go and open it.....

Busy week ahead

only a week now until I go to London and I am sure it will pass quickly - I got extremely busy week ahead. Am off today but need to work at home regarding the hotel manager job, and then I am working Tue, Wed and Thu at the Hotel and then I fly to Hofn on Friday to look at the Hotel there and then I am working Sat and Sun at the hotel in Reykjavik.

And in addition to this, I have to find time to pack and clean my clothes... but if needed I can wash my stuff at the flat in London so.....

...Just cannot wait to see Bob and all the guys in London......

Reykjavik in white!

From red to white! It has been snowing quite a bit here today and yesterday - nothing major but if there was this amount of snow in the UK, schools would be shut down and all transportation would be well....basically fu***ed!!!! (excuse my french!).

SHANE darling! Cannot wait to see you too - thanks for your message!

Am working this weekend and it has been quite busy - but good fun as usual. Am going to see Asa and Kris tonight for dinner but as I am working 12 hours tomorrow I will have an early night! No clubbing for me this weekend, besides am saving my weekly allowed alcohol assumption until I come to London....surely I can take out 3 weeks allowance out in a week!!!! :)

Oh and by the way - for you that do not know yet! Bob has decided to move to Iceland in the end of May!!! Jibbí! so the next weeks I will be busy finding him a job - so if you  know about a job for a talkative, funny, intelligent rugbymadloving scotsman then let me know!

Reykjavik in Red

Saturday night was good fun and a bit educational as well! Gosh, I´m OLD! I really did not mix well with the young crowd in Hverfispöbbinn, but the music was good (a bit of Timberlake and Beyonce) so we stayed there for a bit and then decided to find older (and wiser, don´t forget!) crowd and found them in Bar 11 - although there was a bit too many there - but really good music (ROCK and mixture of 80´s and some Icelandic stuff!) and from there we went to Pravda - there were not that many people there - I found that surprising - and from there we went to Glaumbar - by then the time was 5 in the morning and we bought some beer and just managed to take one sip when they turned on the lights and turned down the music! At 6 in the morning we were home (I stayed at Linda´s as taking a taxi to Hafnafjordur and another to Grafarvogur where she lives would ruin us financially - the evening was expensive enough!) and I slept until 3 pm on Sunday!

All in all, good night with great people! Although I don´t think we painted the town red like we did in the old days (you guys that left a message on my last blog, just to let you know that no arrests were made and we did not beat up anyone and I think we drank rather sensibly!) Still, I think I am too old to party until 6 am very often - 4-5 times a year should be plenty!
